"Picture a Scientist" Movie Screening

"Picture a Scientist," directed by Ian Cheney and Sharon Shattuck, reveals the discrimination and bias that women in science have routinely faced. The film follows the journey and experiences of the biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks, and geologist Jane Willenbring. The purpose of hosting this screening is to raise awareness of the discrimination that women have faced in STEM, for the purpose of creating a more inclusive academic environment. This screening was proceeded by an open discussion, where members from both BMES and WiSE discussed elements of the film that had unique significance to them.
